Intermountain Simulation Actor Course
The Intermountain Simulation Team is looking for volunteers to help with acting roles in the simulation lab. A three hour training course will be held on May 23rd from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Intermountain Simulation Center.
What is a Simulation Actor?
- A simulation actor is someone trained to portray, in a consistent, standardized manner; a patient, family member, or friend in a medical situation.
What is Simulation?
- Simulation is a technique that uses a created situation or environment to allow persons to experience a representation of a real event for the purpose of practice, learning, evaluation, testing, or to gain understanding of systems or human actions.
Why Simulate?
- Simulation allows staff the opportunity to practice and learn in a safe created situation or environment where patients will not be harmed and mistakes can be made (Maran and Glavin, 2003).
This is a fun opportunity for students and members of the community. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact Bethany Southard at 801-357-8508 or [email protected]. Actors will be trained and need no prior experience in acting or simulation. Participants must be at least 16 years of age. Please note that this is a volunteer program. Volunteer Simulation Actors and current Intermountain employees will not be monetarily compensated for their time.
