On November 6, Don Quixote de la Mancha will ride into battle against brigands, windmills, and The Enchanter, accompanied only by his honor and his squire, Sancho Panza. The encounters will take place at 7 pm on the stage of Summit Academy (1225 East 13200 South), under the direction of Liz Edmiston.
Man of La Mancha is, of course, the 1965 award-winning Broadway show by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh, inspired by the novel (one of the very first) by Miguel de Cervantes, written in the early 17th century. Don Quixote has become one of the most beloved figures of all literature, and the musical matches his stature. It has given us a number of musical standards, from such songs as “The Impossible Dream,” Little Bird, little Bird,” and “Dulcinea,” a tribute to the knight’s lady love.
Performances are 7 pm November 6, 7, 9, 13, and 14 at Summit Academy. Tickets will go on sale on this website on 23 October.
