NWSC-LLL-Backstage-postSLC-Based New World Shakespeare Company Presents LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST to Benefit SAGE Utah
Salt Lake City, UT – January17th, 2014 –
NWSC’s Multi-Media LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST Presents Shakespearean Reality TV Show Live on Stage
In the first of four productions for 2014, New World Shakespeare Company presents LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST just in time for Valentine’s Day. NWSC is known for its cutting edge productions, such as their recent collapse-of-society Macbeth and others like Romeo & Juliet, which featured both Romeo and Juliet as females; their post-apocalyptic version of The Tempest; and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which brought in a live DJ, and portrayed the fairies as ravers. NWSC’s LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST brings an old story about self-control and love into the modern world.
When the “King” recruits several young men into a 3 year experiment of study and fasting without any contact with women, they somewhat reluctantly agree. But when the Princess and her ladies arrive, romance and revelry ignite in this contemporary interpretation of Shakespeare’s comedy. Smart, sexy, outrageous, and irreverent, New World Shakespeare Company’s LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST showcases what could have been the world’s first reality show!
All performances will be in the 3rd floor Auditorium of The Leonardo, 209 East 500 South in Salt Lake City and will run February 14th through the 23rd. Friday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm and Sunday performance are at 2:00 pm. Tickets are available online at www.newworldshakespearecompany.com or by calling: 801-719-7998.
A portion of the proceeds from this production will benefit SAGE Utah: a program of the Utah Pride Center that is dedicated to enhancing the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender older adults aged 50+ in our community.
Don’t miss this exclusive two weekend run!
New World Shakespeare Company produces classic scripts with modern interpretations to relate to audiences more directly. Each production is also accompanied by a charitable campaign for a local cause that relates to the theme of the show.
