Let’s Murder Marsha

Performances will be October 14^th to November 5^th (Matinee on October 22^nd).

Auditions: Thursday, August 4^th at 7:00pm and Saturday, August 6^th at 9:00am (Callbacks will be Aug. 6 at 11:30am or August 8^th at 7:00pm if needed.)

A happy housewife named Marsha is hopelessly addicted to reading murder mysteries. She overhears her loving husband discussing her upcoming birthday surprise with an interior decorator. To her ears, though, it sounds like they are planning to murder her! With the assistance of her next door neighbor she tries to turn the tables on them with a poisoned potion. When her own mother shows up for her birthday a day early, Marsha thinks she is in on the diabolical scheme. Then her maid’s date, a policeman, shows up to take the maid out, and Marsha thinks he is on to her poisoning attempt. Well, finally, just when you would think all this would be cleared up, Marsha’s intended victims discover what she has supposed, and decide to teach her a lesson. The comedy is broad, fast and nonstop.

Characters: (Ages listed are suggestions. Good, comedic acting ability and timing is important.) All roles are open.

Marsha Gilmore – a happy housewife addicted to reading cheesy murder mysteries, 30’s – 40’s

Tobias Gilmore – a Wall Street Broker, 40’s – 50’s

Virgil Baxter – neighbor and friend. Out of his element with the ensuing chaos, 30’s – 50’s

Persis Devore – a lady with a secret. Attractive and fashionable interior designer, 30’s – 40’s

Bianca – the Gilmore’s easygoing, slightly kooky maid. Likes to sample the alcohol, 20’s

Lynette Thoren – Marsha’s mother; an elegant woman, 50’s – 70

Ben Quade – Bianca’s boyfriend and a policeman, 20’s – 30’s

Auditions will include cold readings from the script. Please bring a resume, headshot (if possible) and a list of all conflicts for August 8^th thru November 1^st.

Rehearsals will begin August 9^th and will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (with Saturday mornings as needed).
