A Mid Summer Nights Dream

Dear Parents and Actors,

Once a year Acting Out Loud produces a full scale production. This year’s play is an abridged version of William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy A Mid Summer Nights Dream. I would love to have you participate, please consider auditioning.

Acting Out Loud plays are unique.
Each actor is valued and given many, many lines. The 11 Actors in our 2014 Production “Mrs. Buttercups Kitchen” had an average of 30 lines each.

Practices are limited to the weekend and are scheduled so that actors are hard at work when at rehearsal. I value your time and won’t require you to needlessly sit around for hours on end waiting for your turn on stage.

Since this production requires tuition from each actor. I feel it is my responsibility to provide, a good performance location, costumes, props, and scenery. All with limited effort put forth by the cast and parents.

The casts are small, so that means each actor will have ample stage time and plenty of personal instruction time. This class will be limited to 21 students, however if less than 21 audition than everyone can count on a spot in the class.

Performances are free, you may invite as many family and friends as you like. If you chose not to audition, we’d love to have you in the audience, please watch for our performance dates.

Finally, Acting Out Loud is an educational theatre. I expect to teach as we go. You will learn all about Shakespeare, how to deliver his ancient texts, how to create in-depth characters with honest emotion. This play provides wonderful opportunities for comedy and physical humor. You will learn it all and more if you are cast in this year’s production.

Current or previous Acting Out Loud Students need only prepare one 60 Second or 10-15 line monologue of Shakespearean
verse or prose.

New students to Acting Out Loud, please prepare two contrasting 60 Second or 10-15 line monologues of Shakespearean verse or prose.

I found this great website of Shakespearean monologues to help you in your preparation for the auditions. http://www.shakespeare-monologues.org I suggest you pick a piece from a play that you are familiar with.

Auditions will be held Saturday, February 27, 12:30-4:30pm.

Tuition for this class is $185 and may be paid in 3 parts: $85 February 27, $50 April 1, $50 April 30.

Practices will be held Friday/Saturday April 1—May 21, 2016.

Please contact Mrs. Peterson [email protected] to sign up for your audition slot and to receive several pdf’s detailing the class and auditions.

Sincerely,

Jenny Peterson
