The Davis Arts Council proudly presents our third summer of “Shakespeare in the Park,” after our successful productions of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and ROMEO AND JULIET. AS YOU LIKE IT is Shakespeare’s classic story of romance in the forest—where we can pretend to be someone else to find out who we really are. Featuring some of Shakespeare’s most famous characters and timeless lines, this production will be just as YOU like it!
Auditions for AS YOU LIKE IT, directed by Mark Fossen, will be 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, May 18, at the DAC offices at 445 N. Wasatch Drive, Layton. Callbacks are scheduled for Monday, May 20.
We are looking for actors of all ages, genders, ethnic backgrounds, and types. ALL ROLES ARE OPEN. We will be casting women in men’s roles as appropriate, so please audition even if you don’t know where you fit. Rehearsals will be weekday evenings and Saturday daytime starting July 15. Not all actors will be called for all rehearsals. Run dates will be August 28-31 at Layton’s Edward A. Kenley Centennial Amphitheater as part of DAC’s Summer Nights with the Stars 2013 season. Please come to auditions with detailed list of conflicts that occur during this rehearsal schedule.
If you already have a Shakespearean monologue prepared, you are encouraged to audition with that. If you prefer, you may prepare one of the audition sides which will available online at davisarts.org starting May 6. You do not need to memorize the audition side, though you should be familiar with the material and the characters in the play.
