Around the Globe Theatre Company’s “Bob Juan Casanova”, an edgy new play, benefits from strong acting and directing

It’s always enjoyable to attend a new work that is homegrown right here in Utah. “Bob Juan Casanova” is a “provocative new play” written by Robert A Easton that is presented from the perspective of Bob, a single guy living in Utah that isn’t Mormon, and his struggle to find love. Such references as “Miss Magna”, Mormon culture, Utah State University, Cache Valley, and the Sundance Film Festival all serve as influences in the writing and make this show easily relatable in a unique way to Utah audiences. Locked In With 12 Angry Men

Saturday night, Backstage Utah was invited to review 12 Angry Men, presented by West Jordan Theatre Arts and the Sugar Factory Playhouse, and directed by JC Carter. Normally, I don’t attend community theatre, especially to review a production. It is my personal belief that most of the value in community theatre lies within the personal enrichment of the actors, and their continued growth as actors. There isn’t a ton of fulfillment for the audience. Upon discovering this would be directed by JC Carter, I felt it would be worth a look. Continue reading
