5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche is a frolicsome little play that ventures into everybody’s favorite- absurdism! Set in 1956, with the ever-present threat of nuclear war looming over them, the widows of the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein meet in a renovated community center for a special annual event, where the prize-winning quiche will be declared in a much-anticipated ceremony. Will they be able to keep their cool when in the midst of their beloved annual event, Communists descend on their idyllic town?

Things to know before you go: Audience members are given a name tag when they enter the theater, inviting them to participate in a women’s community meeting led by the cast members (but don’t worry—you won’t get called up on stage). At only 80 minutes, the show is fast and funny as the night of shocking comedy (and audience participation) flies along. By the time the final quiche crumbles, you’ll feel like a part of the atomic, retro-age narrative—and you might find yourself craving a little taste of quiche. The sexual innuendo piles up like layers in a freshly prepared quiche; adults will enjoy this outrageous night of comedy, but the subject matter is probably best if it’s not served up to children under 13.
