West Side Story is the award-winning adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Two teens from rival New York City gangs fall in love, but tensions between their respective gangs build toward tragedy. Toni Butler will direct this touching classic with a live, 30 piece orchestra directed by Michelle Willis and music direction by Erin Walker.

Ages: 16 and older (must be going into high school 2018-2019 or older to audition)
Auditions: Singing Auditions: April 18 (7-10p) and Dance/Stage Combat Auditions April 19 (6-10p)

Call Backs: April 21, 8a-1p (by invitation only)
First Cast Meeting: April 24, 7p
Auditions: Please sing 16 bars of a song from West Side Story (you can choose from 4 songs that will be posted by March 31 on our website). Bring an Audition Form. You can schedule your 5 minute singing audition time for April 18 beginning April 9, 2018. All Girls and Boys auditioning will need to attend the dance auditions from 6-8p on April 19. All boys auditioning will need to attend the Stage Combat Auditions from 8-10p on April 19. If you can not attend both singing and dance/stage combat auditions, please come to at least one (singing or dance/stage combat). But please understand: You will be at a disadvantage in the casting to those who attend both auditions so it is highly encouraged to attend both (but not mandatory).
Conflicts: While you can list conflicts on your audition form, West Side Story will be on a very tight rehearsal schedule. The fewer the conflicts, the easier it will be on the director to cast you. However, please be thorough and transparent in listing your conflicts; if our director really wants to cast you, she will work around reasonable conflicts.
Rehearsals: Generally, rehearsals will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (6-10/11 PM) and Saturdays (8 AM–5 PM). The amount of rehearsals you need to attend will depend on the part you are cast in. We will begin rehearsals April 24, 2018. We will not rehearse May 25-June 1, 2018.
Performances: June 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 29 & 30 at 7p, 2018.
