Auditions!
- Auditions will be held at Paradigm High School (11577 3600 W, South Jordan, UT) in room 145 on May 23rd and 24th from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Your individual audition won’t be any longer than 10 minutes. Callbacks will be held May 26th from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. If you are interested, please fill out an audition form. - We will have some at auditions if needed but please have it filled out beforehand. This is a musical tragedy written and to-be directed by Trace Mitchell, with music by Zane Lowry and Mont Hays. - 16 bars of a theatrical song, preferably in the style of the show. (Drama/Tragedy.) Accompanist will be provided, accompaniment not required.

SYNOPSIS
Flowers in Deserts of Blood is an original musical tragedy with themes of grief, hope, and family that follows a young man on his search for answers during times of grief. This leads him to the story of his ancestors, Damien and Violet Kniden, and the dark and mysterious figure known only as the Merchant who sowed the seeds of their tragedy.
CHARACTERS
Marcus (Tenor): Protagonist. Scholar on a mission of self-discovery after his father dies. (In 8 songs)
Damien Kniden (Bass): Marcus’ cynical and immortal ancestor. (In 8 songs)
Violet Strallus (High Alto): Damien’s long dead wife who Marcus meets as a ghost. She then shows Marcus her and Damien’s past. (In 8 songs)
The Merchant (High Baritone): Evil and Mysterious figure who is responsible for Damien’s immortality and Violet’s death. Also the Antagonist. (In 8 songs)
Aviana (Soprano): Marcus’ best friend and moral support. (In 4 songs)
Vincent Strallus (High Baritone): Violet’s brother and Damien’s Friend. (In 5 songs)
Jean Strallus (Tenor): Aristocrat and Violet’s abusive father. (In 3 songs)
Margaret Strallus (Low Soprano): Violet’s abusive mother, Jean Strallus’ wife. (In 3 songs)
Delecor (Low Tenor): Jean Strallus’ servant who goes insane and betrays him. (In 2 songs)
Captain Jaromos (Low Baritone): Damien’s Military Captain. (In 3 songs)
Alexander (High Baritone): Marcus’ father. (In 2 songs)
Ensemble/Minor Roles (All voices): Ensemble and other minor roles. Includes small speaking roles and small solos in some songs.
