Desert Star Youth Theater is excited to announce its Summer 2019 Season of Shows!
INTO THE WOODS – July 26-27
HEATHERS, THE MUSICAL – August 15-17
Both shows will be directed & music directed by Bronson Todd,
assistant directed by Brytan Todd, and choreographed by Rebecca Johnson.
We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers ages 13-19 to play principal and ensemble roles in both of these fantastic productions.
Auditions will take place Saturday, May 11th, from 2:30 – 6:30 PM at the Desert Star Theater, and are by appointment only. Click HERE to sign up. You will be able to audition for one or both shows during your time slot.
If you are only auditioning for ONE show – Please prepare to sing one minute of a song in the style of the show you have chosen (Heathers– contemporary musical theatre, or pop-rock; Into The Woods– classical musical theatre). You may sing a song from the show for which you have chosen to audition.
If you are auditioning for BOTH shows – Please prepare two one-minute song selections, one in the style of Heathers (contemporary musical theatre / pop-rock), and one in the style of Into The Woods (classical musical theatre). You may sing songs from both shows.
Callbacks will be held Monday, May 13th, and are by invitation only. Rehearsals for both shows will begin on Monday, June 10th. Rehearsals will be held Mondays-Fridays, times TBD.
If cast in one of the shows, there is a participation fee of $250. However, this summer we are also offering a Two-Show Discount: if you do both shows, instead of paying $250 for each, you’ll only pay $390 total! Limited scholarships and multi-family member discounts may be available. These fees are non-refundable, and make up the primary budget for the shows, paying for performance royalties, costumes, props, sets, music tracks, lighting, etc.
