Daddy Long Legs – Pit Orchestra

The Empress Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for
“Daddy Long Legs – Pit Orchestra”
We are excited to offer an opportunity for the musician community to be a part of this production. This band is small, only a piano, cello and guitar. We are also looking for a violinist willing to add a bit of sparkle on top; there is no sheet music for a violin. Daddy Long Legs has large amount of underscoring throughout the show.

Auditions will be held November 27th, 2021 from 1pm to 3pm
Please come prepared with two contrasting selections from your repertoire. Not exceeding three minutes each. In addition please prepare the instrument specific selection found at the link below.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
Callback Date: TBA based on auditions.
First day of rehearsal: TBA based on conflicts
Range of rehearsal hours: Rehearsal times are blocked in the hours of 6pm to 10pm.
Tech begins: January 15th, 2022
First preview: February 3rd, 2022
Opening: February 4th, 2022
Closing: February 12th, 2022
Days/times of planned performances: Thursday – Saturday 2/4/22 – 2/12/22
Saturday Matinee – 2/5/22 & 2/12/22

Instrumentation Breakdown
Piano
A skilled pianist with some experience playing for people to sing to. Required at all rehearsals. Ideally also functions as the band conductor but not a required part of the audition.
Required Side: Chopin Nocturne No. 9 (Measures 1-20 required, whole song preferred)
Cello
Required Side: Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, Prélude
Guitar
Ability to read lead sheets is a must.
Required Side: No Rock, jazz or blues acceptable.
Violin
Required Side: Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5
