Auditions for Timp Players production of The Fantasticks - Heber

Heber - Auditions for available roles in The Fantasticks - Tues Nov 29 6-8, Callbacks Wed Nov 30 - at Timpanogos Valley Theatre, 90 North 100 West Heber City, Utah. The show will be directed by David Liddell Thorpe and Julie Doud who will both also act in this very first Timp Players Black-Box style production. At once a romance, a comedy, and a musical performed on a small platform with minimal set and a cast of eight performers.

The Fantasticks will perform Feb 9, 10, 11, 14, 17, 18 at 7 p.m. at Timpanogos Valley Theatre in Heber. Rehearsals will also be held in Heber - mainly at the theatre.

AUDITIONERS: Please prepare one audition side & one song selection from The Fantasticks - soon to be available on the website at http://timpvalleytheatre.com/auditions/. Also - come prepared with all conflicts in your schedule Dec 1-Feb 18. Headshots & resumes are welcome. An accompanist will be provided.

Character Breakdown

Available roles. (The role of Luisa is pre-cast, one of the roles below will also be taken by a director TBD.)

MEN

The Narrator (El Gallo): A rakish, handsome, sophisticated gallant and narrator of the show. He is warm, cordial, and inviting to the audience, but has his own darker moments. He aids the performers in orchestrating the story. Age: 30 to 50, Vocal range: Ab2-G4

The Boy (Matt): An innocent, young man who is searching for love and adventure. A bright guy, but naive and even foolish at times, approaching situations with a false bravado. Age: 18 to 35, Vocal range: A2-G4

MEN OR WOMEN *The following roles while most are traditionally male may be cast as women for this production

The Boy’s Father (Hucklebee): A former boisterous navy man and meticulous gardener who fakes a fight with Bellomy in hopes of getting their children to fall in love. Age: 40 to 65, Vocal range: A2-F#4

The Girl’s Father (Bellomy): A fastidious button-maker and also a picky gardener who fakes a fight with Hucklebee in hopes of getting their children together. Age: 40 to 65, Vocal range: A2-F#4

The Actor (Henry): An aging, over-the-top Thespian who specializes in reciting Shakespeare, he is a commedia clown; his world is the stage and he knows no other reality. Age: 50 to 70

The Man Who Dies (Mortimer): Henry’s goofy sidekick and another former actor who specializes in stage deaths. A commedia clown, his world is the stage and he does not live in reality. Age: 30 to 50

The Mute: A speechless presence who watches, acts as the wall, and deals with props; the “invisible” stage assistant. Should be able to easily assist in the story or fade into the background unnoticed. Age: 16 to 50

All roles are unpaid.
