Draper Historic Theater announces auditions for its exciting new production of The Mikado. Auditions are Saturday 12 July from 9 to 11 at the Theater, 12366 South 900 East. Auditioners should come prepared to sing 16 bars of a G&S (or similar) song (accompanist provided) and recite a one-minute comic monologue.
Director Gordon Jones promises an exciting, bright, cheerful, energetic and fun production, and is looking for singers/actors/dancers who can make that happen. Every note of the music will be there, but the production will be updated to modern-day Japan (“If you want to know who we are, we are businessmen of Japan”). There will be plenty of topical and social humor added; nothing too serious, and always family-friendly, but much more improvisational dialogue than usual.
Performances will be FSM 5-20 September. More information at the website, or contact the director at [email protected] or 801-541-0326.
