The Empress Theatre is thrilled to announce our first ever EMPRESS IDOL SINGING COMPETITION to be held May 29, 30 & 31, 2014!
Initial auditions with be held MONDAY, MAY 19TH from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Empress Theatre. There is no fee to audition. If selected as a finalist, there will be a $15 contestant fee, this will include a t-shirt & a finalist award. The contestant fee is due on Thursday, May 22nd during the finalist meeting held at 6:00PM at the theater.

AUDITION INFO:
Please prepare a 1 minute song in any genre that shows off your vocal ability and style.
Please bring a minus track on a CD or MP3/MP4 – You may also sing a Capella or accompany yourself on your own instrumentation. However no instrumentation will be provided by the theater.
Duos & Groups are welcome, however all participants must register and pay an entrance fee if selected as a finalist. If the duo or group wins the competition only 1 prize will be awarded and they will need to split the prize.
COMPETITION INFO:
There will be four age groups in this year’s competition:
· Mini Idol 5yrs to 9yrs
· Junior Idol 10yrs to 13yrs
· Teen Idol 14yrs to 18yrs
· Empress Idol 19yrs & Up
Each contestant will need to prepare 3 different song selections for the competition. The theme is open so these selections can be any genre! You can even bring your own instrument and accompany yourself. Specific details will come during the mandatory finalist meeting held on May 22, 2014.
There will be 12 finalists selected from each age group.

· Round 1 - Mini Idol & Junior Idol – Top 12 Compete & Top 6 from each group will continue to Round 2.
Friday May 30, 2014 7:00PM
· Round 1 – Teen Idol & Empress Idol – Top 12 Compete & Top 6 from each group will continue to Round 2.
Saturday May 31, 2014 2:00PM
· Round 2 & 3 – Mini Idol & Junior Idol – Top 6 Compete & Top 3 from each group will continue on & sing 3rd selection to compete for the title and grand prize.
Saturday May 31, 2014 7:00PM
· Round 2 & 3 – Teen Idol & Empress Idol – Top 6 Compete & Top 3 from each group will continue on & sing 3rd selection to compete for the title and grand prize.
Spectators may get in (general admission) for just $5 per round OR purchase a $17 idol pass for all 4 rounds. Watch for more info on how to purchase these tickets. **All Voting will be done by the audience members during the competition!
*** GRAND PRIZES!! *** The winner from each age group will win a pair of 2015 Season Tickets to the Empress Theatre and have the opportunity to sing at the 2014 Empress Gala!
