Auditions for the Sandy Arts Guild’s production of 39 Steps will be held on Thursday, December 4, 7-8:30 PM and Saturday December 6 9-10:30 AM at Sandy City Parks & Rec (440 East 8680 South, Sandy). Laura Bedore will be the director. Rehearsals will start the first week of January. The show will perform mid-February through early March.

Come prepared for a cold read from the script and improv; bring a photo and resume. All parts are open. Needed for 3 men and 1 woman. A reserved audition time is recommended, but not required.
The 39 Steps is an award winning comedy which shares the plot and characters of the famous Hitchcock movie of the same name. The play is a far funnier version, however, much in the style of the irreverent send-up “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged” only using the movies and aspects of Alfred Hitchcock. The main part of Richard Hannay is the only actor who continues as “himself” while the two men and one woman who round out the ensemble play as many as 100 -150 other roles/people/objects during the course of the production. Each actor is required to be improvisationally nimble, versatile with accents and personas, as well as a quick study for memorization. Because of the close proximity to the audience in the Chamber Theater we will be using one or two additional actors as “stage hands” to add to the fun and comedic effect required to pull off this madcap farce of a show.
