Director’s Note:

Why Little Shop?

I have been in love with Little Shop of Horrors for a very long time. From an early age I loved the puppets, the show-stopping musical numbers, the over-the-top characters, the Greek style singing chorus, and the spooky fun. There’s something about this story that keeps bringing fans back to see it again and again. In my opinion, that’s because this show has it all: it’s a comedy; it’s a tragedy; it’s a horror story; it’s a love story. It’s a contemporary drama about one man’s struggle to make something out of his life. It’s a cautionary tale about unchecked ambition. It’s a sci-fi fantasy about an aggressive alien from another world!  And it’s a musical! What’s not to love?

You could scroll through Netflix for a year without finding a show that can boast all that! I could go on about how the contrasting comedic moments help to make the moments of tragedy more impactful, or how there isn’t better music out there, or how thrilling it is to watch gargantuan puppets come to life and sing and dance; but I think the best way to appreciate this wonderful production is to watch it! I’m so happy to
be able to share Little Shop of Horrors with you in all its beauty and beastly glory! I’m sure you’ll see why it’s so special and that you’ll fall in love with it, too!
