Silver Summit Theatre Co. (SSTC) is seeking a music director for our Fall production of ASSASSINS.

Bold, original, disturbing, and alarmingly funny, ASSASSINS is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written.

This American of musicals lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical “revusical” that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.

Basic job responsibilities:

· Assist director in casting.

· Provide vocal music direction for production. Conduct all vocal music rehearsals with cast.

· Determine which instruments will be used in orchestration.

· Recruit, rehearse, and conduct orchestra for the production. If unable to conduct the show, recruit a conductor.

· Other duties may be assigned.

Rehearsals will take place in Salt Lake County. Performances will take place between Nov. 1-Nov. 20, 2013 and will be at the Midvale Main St. Theatre in Midvale Utah. ***This is a volunteer position.
