New site, new moderator, new names for the ongoing threads.  And I never liked the term pissers.  So deal with it.

The dishwasher just started leaking.  Maybe I can fix it with a replacement rubber seal.  Or maybe I'll have to use my tax refund for a new dishwasher.

Sometimes, I just have to laugh.  I feel a bit like Marge Simpson in that Halloween episode... "Oh good!  The curtains are on fire!"

I am griping a little, but I refuse to let the universe get me down!  Ha!  Take that, universe!  I wanted a new dishwasher anyway!  (I just didn't want to have to pay for it.)

Heavy equipment is pounding on the street outside again.  They were doing this nearly all day yesterday and it gave me the biggest headache that didn't go away until I went to sleep.  I am not amused.  It's actually shaking my desk.

When they did our construction near the alumni house, it was the same thing. My elbows got numb from the vibrations through my desk. (Also the guys played Christina Aguilera, not a lie.)

So, I installed pocketpedia on my iPhone.  Then I did the sync between it and iTunes, so now I have all the data from my iTunes library on my phone... so if I ever need to know if I have the 1977 Dusseldorf Cast recording of Pippin, I can look.  But since I installed it and did the initial sync, I haven't let my iPhone fully back up properly.  I suppose I should let it happen, but I keep interrupting it, because I want to do something else.

Our office does a thing every Valentine's Day where every person picks a love song and then a mix gets compiled and it's fun and awesome!

Except I feel like I know too many awesome love songs and I don't know what song to choooooose. CRY.

The choice is obvious.  "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas.

Grin I know, right. I was going to go with "I'm Never Gonna Dance Again" by Wham! but I figured I should try to choose a song people will actually want to listen to.

(I would use "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel but um everyone would know I was being dead serious because I love that song. It would not be "funny".)

I definitely considered the Police, you betcha. YOU BETCHA.

(I eventually caved and used something really sweet and cute: "I Don't Know" by Lisa Hannigan. So there is that. I lost my chance to be funny but the song is adorable. Cheesy)

Is it really too much to ask for something to work out the way I thought it would, just once?  I've given up on a lot of long-term planning, just because it's so disappointing when things don't work out according to plan.  I thought I'd gotten things down to where I had reasonable goals in my own control, not plans that required other people's actions and choices.  But even these things don't work out.

I give up.

That's it, I give up.

If I don't expect anything to ever work out for me again, I won't be disappointed when it doesn't.

So I'm not so cranky today, but I'm very discouraged.  I've auditioned for several shows since last January and gone to callback after callback (and done well, I think), and not been cast.  It's frustrating.  I've lost track of how many shows I've auditioned for in the last 15 months.

*sigh*

Why?  Why does this always happen when I try to schedule things with groups of people?

Me: So?  Monday or Tuesday?  What time?

Other people: Tuesday.  Not after 9.

Me: 6:30?

Other people: Oh. Not that time either, I have another thing then.

Me: GAH.

Related: Why are people such flakes?  Why do I so easily forget that?

Saturday was a lovely day, spent cruising around Manhattan on the Circle Line... a little too nice, as I got a bit of a sunburn.  The grumpiness comes from the fact that my face has started peeling... it's gross and itchy, and I don't like it one bit.

Blargh.

Just looking at my thesis is making me cry. Usually, I would take this as an indication that I should go do something else for a while, and come back to it when I'm in a better frame of mind, but I just don't have TIME for that. (It has to be turned it, completed enough for the defense, on June 18th.)

It boils down to this:  I don't trust my boss, therefore I don't like him.  I resist most attempts at discussing Life Outside Work with him, and when I run into him anywhere else, it unnerves me for an entire day.

At least I know the root of my passive-aggressive tendencies toward him...right?
