The family saga of Robin Hood continues in this brand new musical adventure by award-winning playwrights Stephen and Teresa Gashler. Featuring epic music a la Celtic Woman, Blackmore’s Night, and River Dance, this is far from your typical Robin Hood play. Paradigms shift as trusted kings become tyrants, heroes become villains, and “stealing from the rich and giving to the poor” no longer seems ethical. When England falls to mobs and chaos, Aspen, the free-spirited and free-thinking daughter of Robin Hood, must do what it takes to stop a war.
Auditions will be held at the Angelus Theatre (165 N Main St, Spanish Fork, UT 84660) on June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from 6:30 – 9:30 PM. You will be able to reserve a time slot at http://ladyofsherwood.com. We ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early.
Callbacks will be at the theater on Saturday, June 5th from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM. You must attend (if called back) in order to be cast.
Rehearsals will run primarily at the Angelus Theatre from June 7th – July 31st. Performances will run from August 1st – 14th.
There are many roles for ages 16+. While all positions are on a volunteer basis, actors will be thanked for their time with a $100 honorarium. Crew members will be thanked with a $200 honorarium.
Be prepared to sing 2 minutes of an upbeat musical theatre song to an accompaniment on YouTube. You will be asked to share a link to the accompaniment below. A Bluetooth-compatible speaker will be available at the theater.
Characters:
- Aspen – female, daughter of Robin Hood, smart, free-spirited, good-humored, but a letdown to the family name when it comes to archery and swordsmanship
- Hawk – male, the new sheriff of Nottingham, more benevolent than his ruthless father, though a stickler for law
- Lady Scarlet – female, the daughter of Will Scarlet, forward-thinking, action-oriented, unforgiving
- Richard – male, king of England, tough, stern, tired, and with a weakness for food
- Marian – female, widow of Robin Hood, witty, sarcastic, jovial
- Beatrice – female, one of Aspen’s close friends, a bit rough around the edges
- Isabella – female, Aspen’s more refined friend
- Mabel – female, Lady Scarlet’s righthand woman, fiercely loyal
- Elric – male, Hawk’s righthand man
- Chorus – women of Sherwood, peasants, nobles, guards
