There’s trouble in River City, my friends, and Professor Harold Hill can fix it all with a wave of his magic hand — and the formation of his all-boy marching band, of course. But Marian the Librarian is not to be fooled, at least until she falls in love with the irrepressible con artist. The show is packed with favorite songs including “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Lida Rose”, and “‘Till There was You.”
This musical celebrating Americana will be presented in High Valley Arts’ beautiful Outdoor Theater in Midway, Utah with its stunning view of Mt. Timpanogos from July 3 through July 20 (July 4, Sundays and Tuesdays excepted.)
Auditions are Tuesday, March 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 23, from 9 to 2 p.m. All roles are available. In a review of last years’ summer production, The Deseret News said, “[Doug Osmond] really is remarkable in the role of a Jewish father . . . There are also standouts [in the cast] . . . For an evening of theatrical entertainment away from the heat and noise, ‘Fiddler on the Roof,’ directed by Sue Waldrip, is a good choice.’”
Auditioners should come prepared to sing 16 bars of a song from the show or a song in a similar style and perform a cold reading and a short dance sequence taught by the choreographer. A pianist will be provided. The show will be directed by Sue Waldrip with Ellie Gallagher as choreographer.
