Silver Summit Theatre Company announces open auditions for the season’s fall theatrical production, Buried Child by Sam Shepard. This American classic will be directed by Lane Richins, and produced by Michele Michele Case Rideout.
Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama takes a macabre look at the disintegration of the American dream. Mystery and humor combine in the Midwestern home of a dysfunctional family with a very dark secret that plunges them into bizarre degeneration and finally, toward hope. For mature audiences only.
Auditions will be held on Saturday May 30th from 11:00 a.m to 1:30 p.m. at the Ruth Vine Tyler Library located at 8041 S. Wood Street in Midvale. Call backs will immediately follow. All questions regarding auditions should be sent to [email protected].

The following roles are available:
BRADLEY: Tilden’s very aggressive younger brother, late 30’s/early 40’s, lost his leg in a chainsaw accident which has left him feeling emasculated and bitter.
VINCE: early 20’s, Tilden’s estranged son, returning home after many years, the family acts as though they don’t recognize him.
SHELLY: 20’s, Vince’s girlfriend, reluctant to be with him at the family’s house, determined to uncover the family’s secret, shaken by what she finds, skeptical of the family’s inner-workings and relationships.
FATHER DEWIS: Local priest, 40-60, enjoys drinking and women, carrying on a not so secret affair with Halie (60’s).

The production will perform at the downtown SLC location of the Sugar Space west of the Gateway Mall. October 9-25, 2015. A small stipend is available for those successfully cast. Rehearsals will likely begin in mid August and contintue through to opening, however scheduling will be solidified upon casting.
