What is the most you've ever been upset/sad/effected, etc by the death of a fictional character (in any medium), and why?

I was about to post one, but then I got tripped up by the word "most."

What? Are you unsure if it's the most? Fine, just pick one that bothered you.

Wash. Hands down.

If we're going to die, let's die looking like a Peruvian folk band.

For me, I'm going to have to go with Darth Vader.

Henry Blake, when I was a young lad... then Wash was likely my second.

I was pretty broken up by Joyce Summers as well, though I suspect that was more due to how the episode handled it.

Dumbledore.

Refresh my memory on who Joyce Summers was.

Oh, Lucy Knight was a big one. Her death was so brutal.

Oh, and Cyclops. But so much of that was to die an ignoble death in a bad moivie. As much as he has always been my favorite X-Man, he could die, IF it were dramatic and respectful. I consider that movie apocraphyl.

Buffy (The Vampire Slayer)'s mom. Her death was beautifully handled in the episode, "The Body." Not only was it the best handling of death on that series, I thought it was the best handling of death and personal tragedy ever put on television.

Wash was a tough one, because the character was so likable, and his death was so brutal and sudden.

I just saw this episode for the first time. Ugh. Anya freaking out in Willow's dorm room... ugh. I cried. A lot.

Also: Walter's death in Rilla of Ingleside messed me up pretty hard. And I have been known to cry like a child at the end of The Time Traveler's Wife.

And yeah. Dumbledore messed me up but good, but the one that really got me was Fred. That was just LOW.

For that series, Dobby and Fred. No runners up.
