I am in the market for an e-reader. I have looked at so many my head is spinning. Kindle, iPad, Nook, Sony's, etc. Does anyone have one they love? Why? Do you have one you hate? Why.

My main purpose for wanting an e-reader is so I can load my pdf schoolbooks on and take them with me where I go. I have looked at devices that support ePub docs, etc. I am looking for some outside input as well.

But let's be honest, I want to play and have fun when I am done with school ... and even while I am in school!

Thoughts? Warnings? Recommendations?
Thanks

I've been looking into this.  The consensus seems to be for Kindle or the Nook.  Nook (apparently) has a somewhat confusing/difficult navigation, but I haven't tried it out so I don't know how difficult.  I like the way the Nook looks, but the newer Kindle is starting to look more sleek and nice too.  Kindle seems to be the top pick for e-readers that don't use an LCD screen.  The Nook has the option for LCD I think, but I stare at a computer so much I'd rather read the black and white view that can be read easily in the sun.

Since I work at Barnes and Noble I can answer pretty much any question in regards to e-readers so ask away. (Everything has been pounded into our brains on e-readers.)

Just to clear up somethings Dexter said about nook and kindle

both navigations are almost the same. The main difference is that at the bottom of the nook it is a touch screen where as with the kindle there is not a second section for navigation.

The nook is not an LCD. It is actually a new kind of ink screen invented by 3M. It looks exactly like reading a book from paper. It has no glare so you can read it in the sun and be fine. It doesn't hurt your eyes like a computer would.

The nook has 2 options now. The Wifi version and the 3G version. You can also surf the web with it and it has games.

There are quite a few differences between the nook and the kindle, but honestly, when it comes to e-readers, those are the top 2. The Ipad is awesome and all, but even Apple folks are refering people to the Nook for an e-reader if that is what they are mainly looking for. In fact the software for the nook and barnes and noble e-reader is being marketed by Apple.....Just a bit of tid bit info.
