Every night, I wake up two or three times because I've rolled over and put too much weight on my left hand, cutting off the circulation and making it fall asleep. Does anyone else have this problem?

I sleep with my arm curled around a pillow and my hand curled underneath my chin. Usually in the morning the joint has to pop because it's been in the same position all night, and sometimes it falls asleep and I notice in the morning, but I don't think it's ever woken me up before...

Only occasionally does a pins'n'needle hand wake me up.  Only occasionally do I get pins'n'needle hand while sleeping, honestly.  I have so many pillows it's like I sleep in a pirate's harem, though, so there's a lot of give and malleability for my body through the night.

How many pillows do you sleep on?

Once in a great while.  Once, however, I woke to the sound of my phone ringing, and both my hands were asleep.  Awkward.

Yes, ALL the time. And not just with my hands, but with all my limbs. My legs, arms, hands, feet, everything are constantly falling asleep and I toss and turn all night long. I've never understood how people can sleep without cutting off their circulation. And when I do finally fall asleep, Dave punches or kicks me while saying garbled sentences, because he suffers from somnambulism. Then I return the favor by snoring and waking him up. So basically, neither of us have really slept for 23 years.

More stupid questions on this topic:

Has anyone ever lost a limb by totally cutting off the circulation in sleep?  I wonder this sometimes, because my limbs can be so dead that I can't feel them at all for quite a while, and I'm always thinking they'll have to be amputated due to tissue damage from lack of oxygen or something.

Also... does this have anything to do with diabetes or other insulin/sugar problems... like hypoglycemia?

It's strange that I feel oddly validated that at least one other person has experienced this.

I have a friend who has an aunt who passed out once, lying on her hand.  When they found her, hours later, her hand was black and she hasn't had good use of it since.
