There can't be THAT many, in all the seas of songs that we listen to and love, that leave an indelible impression on the soul; an impression that we carry with us forever.

I dunno, man. That's a lot of pressure to put on one song!

There are 2

Troy - Sinad O'Connor.  Got me through a really rough time in my life.  It was right after I came out, and had a strange relationship with someone... one that I put WAY more stock into than he did.  I was convinced that it was far more than it was.  It wasn't.  And through the course of events, I ended up getting REALLY hurt by my imaginary relationship.  Sinad got me through it.

Invincible - Pat Benetar.  Also has to do with me coming out.  This was given to me on a cassette tape made by a drag queen friend of mine.  It was songs to help me get through the drama that came with coming out.  To this day, this song will always remind me of what an amazing person this was, and that I can be strong in the face of anything, I just have to try.

Thanks for sharing that MRC.  I haven't had an experience quote so important as that, but sometimes I am just mesmerized by a song and I can't get enough of it, and I listen to it over and over and over and while I eventually slow down, it's never from being sick of it.

I had that with the Killer song "Human"
Grace Kelly - Mika
Trashed and Scattered - Avenge Sevenfold
The Living Tree - Dame Shirley Bassey
Fix You - Coldplay
Sticks and Stone - Jonsi
Love Generation - Bob Sinclair

I don't know what it is but I feel as though I especially connect with them.  That no one can appreciate them more than I do.

wow. i can't pick just one or two songs...

i would have to say that Damien Rice's first album "O", pretty much the whole album resonates with me. It was one of those albums i picked up on a whim, not having even heard of him (only to find out later that I HAD heard his song "the blowers daughter" on the movie "Closer") and the second i put it in the player, i was hooked. There is a rawness and an honesty in his voice that speaks to me, and SO many endless lyrics to pick from that I find so personally relatable.

other than that? Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek", "Speeding Cars", and "Just for Now" are other songs I feel belong to me.

I guess more that specific songs, I feel the connection you are talking about to certain artists...

Damien Rice, Imogen Heap, Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, Alanis Morrisette, Brett Drennan, Tracy Chapman, Duncan Sheik.

Those are probably the top musicians that have composed songs that to me I would consider significantly life changing songs for me.

for me too.  Most especially the blower's daughter, and thank you for reminding me.  I listened to this song non-stop for several weeks once.  GREAT song.

Sting's "Why Should I Cry For You" and "Into the West" from LOTR both have very personal meanign for me. No other songs fill me with as much emoition, i think.
