My sister has a rare syndrome called Xeroderma Pigmentosum, XP for short. It is a rare genetic condition whereby a person's DNA lacks the ability to repair damage from ultraviolet light.� The disorder leads to skin cancer as early as childhood.� Unless sun exposure is minimized, XP victims are likely to die of malignant melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma.

My sister has already had 16 skin cancer surgeries for it and she is only 14. She cannot go out in the sun without a special hood to cover her. Talk about a hard life huh? There is no cure.
