Thanks MRC and Shrink for helping dig me out of my metaphysical hole. Roll Eyes

I guess what I should have said was, regardless of whether or not it's true or sound, it helps when you're doing it to *think* of it that way.

You "trick" the mind into thinking that you're getting energy from external forces, and you feel more energized, regardless of whether it "actually" happened.

It does work! (For a lot of people, anyway) Visualization seems the key to being able to relax... for me, at least. I could get into all the psychology mumbo-jumbo of why thinking you are drawing upon energy sources or mentally connecting yourself to nature or other people works, but I won't bore everyone.

I do progressive muscular relaxation too, which really helps me. I mentioned earlier that I've been using that method since I was in Jr. High. If you don't know what that is, I'm sure it's online under PMR or something. The concept has been around for a long time in the East, but was sort of "formalized" in the West about 60 years ago or so.

Aww! Sad

Pretty pretty please? *batting eyelashes*

We can start a new thread about it so as not to annoy DK further.

You're not really annoying me, just talking about something that doesn't interest me  Smiley It does not annoy me if you want to talk about it. Frankly I'm so strongly opposed to the idea of being forced to "Stay On Topic" that I would haven to shoot myself if I ever encouraged it in a thread I started  Wink
