Rejection happens.  Often for reasons that we, as actors, don't understand in the moment.  I just trust that the director knows what his/her vision for the production is, and that I didn't fit this time.

That being said... Directors:  It's ok to just say no.  I HATE it when a director feels they have to explain every rejection.  If I really want to know what I did wrong, I will ask so I can work on it, but the whole "I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings" thing just doesn't work.

Or maybe that's just me.  Roll Eyes

Sometimes I think there's value in taking a hard look at yourself, what you want, what makes you happy, and what you think you can achieve. In my case, doing this lead me to choose leaving acting behind and focusing on directing, and I am much happier, more fulfilled person because of it. I'm not at all saying that's a good plan for everyone, just that it's one of the best choices I personally ever made,

Yeah, I've taken time away form acting myself, but now I really want to get back into it.  I'm currently in a place where the companies I did act with are no longer in operation so I face he frightening prospect of starting over again.   Roll Eyes  But so far, nothing has come along on the wire that has made me jump up and rush to an audition for my rejection just yet.   Wink

I didn't get cast in the two shows I got called-back for last week and I was getting discouraged about auditioning for anything else, but then Darkwing (still alive!) said "not auditioning is getting rejected by default" so I'm plowing ahead and going for it again.  I learn something from every audition and every rejection.
