As far as I know, the only people from this show who frequent the boards are Labeq and me, but, hey, I thought I'd start it anyway. Not all calls have gone out yet, but I feel we have a very good cast and I'm excited for the show.

This is a girl who has had her heart broken
Cried for continuous hours
Yelled and screamed for help
A girl who turned her back on the world
and a girl who did nothing but love someone.

Yes, Logan is the God of local theatre. And I taught him 30% of what he knows.

So, whenever I've mentioned the premise of this play to people, they've all been saying "Ooo!  I want to see that!"  Most positive response I've ever gotten from people about a play I've been in, and we're only just getting started.

That's very encouraging. I hope "Star Ward" lives up to what people want from it.

I'm going to have to agree! I thought last Wednesday's rehearsal was so fun and we have such an awesome cast. Granted I haven't been there since, but I'm looking forward to this show a lot.

Everybody really wants to see this show. Pretty ding dong exciting, if you ask me.

On my way home tonight, I happened to glance at the temperature gauge on the dashboard, and it was approaching the red zone.  I pulled off three exits before home, and by the time I'd pulled into the gas station on the other side of the freeway, the needle had hit the red.  I popped the hood, and while I was trying to figure out what to do next (I didn't bring my phone with me today, it was already past my parents bedtime, and my sister's car died last week), a pickup of hunters pulled up.  The father in the group offered to help.  He checked the water level and oil, and said the water was way low.  I got some water to put in it, and after a little while he took the radiator cap off, and said the antifreeze was way low, too (which makes sense).  So we dumped water in there, too.  Then they took off and I sat a little longer to make sure the engine had had time to cool down.  I was able to drive home without any more trouble.  But obviously, my car needs to have something fixed--a radiator or hose or something again or the thermostat or the temperature gauge.  Something is obviously wrong, and I'm a little afraid to drive it in the meantime.  This really has not been a good day.

I was very happy with the run through on Saturday. obviously there is a lot of work to do, especially in the 2nd Act, but I feel like we're headed in a very good direction.

Since I had to duck out at 2, what did the total time come out to?  (And I'm sure the things will run much more smoothly once we actually have everyone there at the same time.)

We had 39 minutes for Act I, and 35 for Act II. Not bad.

I believe we're scheduled to have everyone there at the same time during week 2 of the performance run  Wink

Tonight WAS better!  And I didn't step on children nearly as much as I thought I would.

And I will try very hard in the future not to impale any more castmates.  I make no promises regarding stage managers and directors, though.

Impale cast members and stage managers all you want.

Directors . . . try to avoid the kidney, please.

So, I haven't decided whether late at night at a Trax station is a good or bad place to have a bad car battery.  It's dark and scary and lonely, but on the other hand there are more people coming and gong who can give you a jump start than at most other dark and scary and lonely places!

(By the way, I loved the audience tonight!  The show on the whole went great, I think.)

My parents will be going out of town at next week, and will be gone for the rest of the month.  Since I'm very sure I won't be finishing my thesis in time for my original plan of not mentioning the play until I was done, I told them about it tonight.  I think my mom was a little annoyed with me for keeping it a secret, but hey, at least this weekend I'll have people coming to see it at last!

Cool Smiley Why did you keep it a scret? Did you think it would bother them that you were taking time away from your thesis to do the play?

Yeah, my mom had made it pretty clear a while ago that she didn't think I should be doing plays when I should be working on my thesis.  But really, the two activities occupy completely separate blocks of time in  my life--I wasn't going to be working on the thesis in the evenings anyway!

I hope I haven't directed another production that causes family drama. I got enough of that from my documentary.

When it happened on Monday, I didn't find the lights coming up in the middle of the Cantina scene change funny at all.

Now I have to admit that the image of Chewbacca and a half dressed Yoda caught in the headlights as they set up a bar is pretty hysterical.

It was a good closing night. There are, of course, stresses associated with the show (as with any show) that I won't miss, but there's a lot I will miss. I know it was a silly, fluffy parody, but it was one of the most personal shows I ever did.
