Is it ok if the mary janes are Clark's?  And very comfy?  But fun to look at? Wink

I had my windshield repaired today and 1. insurance covers all of the repairs  2. it took much less time than I thought and  3. I got to say, "I'm sorry, while you work here I have to dash back inside, I'm working from home today and I have a telephone conference."  How cool is my job?
(Answer: not as cool as I can make it sound, but that I can make it sound cool is cool)

I found my wallet of accompaniment CDs!  It's been missing for...almost two months?  I'm not sure.  Too long though.  But I found it!  And a kaleidoscope kit I didn't know I had.  And my fabric scissors.  And my other pincushion.  And the instruction book for my dad's loom.

Nope, not this time!  There is currently nothing under my couch cushions that I didn't intentionally put there (like my drill, a hacksaw, miter box and saw, quite a bit of sandpaper, wrenches, various other tools, two kinds of wood finishing oils, two kinds of epoxy, two kinds of superglue, several spools of ribbon, a ruler, and, well, quite a bit of stuff).  I cleaned there yesterday.

The CD wallet was in a paper grocery bag under the ironing board.

Aw crap. Lost that bet.  Now I have to make myself breakfast in bed.

I once found a Mr Potatohead mustache in my couch cushions.  Now it's in my Billing and Receipts drawer - I wear it when I pay bills.

Really fascinating!  Do you get to go down into Aswan and Luxor as well?   We saw dozens of sites, but my favorite were the Temple of Karnak in Luxor and Abu Simbel in Aswan.  The Giza and Step Pyramids are really awesome in Cairo too.  I hope you plan to see the Cairo Museum because it is awesome!  We saw the Pyramids on our first trip to Egypt and then we went back to spend two weeks going down the Nile and seeing all the other sites.   I'm truly excited for you!  Of all the places I've traveled, Egypt was the biggest step from our own culture into something completely different.  I want everyone to go and experience it!

If you haven't already seen it (or want to now that you are going there), here is the video of our second trip to Egypt with my daughter:

This is a slightly embarrassing happy thought for the day, considering how long I've had my lathe and how many turned items I've sold, but today I finally learned how to change the speed on my lathe!  I'd had it on the lowest speed all along, and now I have it quite a bit faster, and it is so much easier to cut now!

I'm really not sure what the plan is.  I'll be staying with friends who currently live there, and they'll be showing me around.  I'm sure we'll go the pyramids, take a felucca ride on the Nile, go to Alexandria (I'm a librarian after all, and that's where it started), check out Coptic Cairo, but I don't know details yet.  I'll keep you posted!

It is awesome.  The funny thing about the SLC Library for me is that I was in a film that used it for an airport scene, so I always think I'm in an airport when I go there.

Just wait to see it in the Summer.  They have tons of activities going on outside and inside, pretty much every weekend, sometimes exhibits go through it... it truly is freaking amazing.

and I live just a half a block away from it.  I love living downtown!

Seriously! I need to get a library card! Granted, I can check out books at Barnes and Noble, but just to have one to that place would make me happy.

The first time I went into the SLC library I giggled. Actually giggled. I wandered around through all the floors for probably two hours and just beamed. It's so PRETTY. And so... and so PRETTY. and PRETTY.

I love the Orem public library.  Granted, it's probably been a good 20 years since I've been there, but that building holds so many memories from when I was a little kid.  Anyone else remember the giant dragon they had up on the ceiling?  Or was it a giant Giant...?  Maybe it was a Jack & the Beanstalk thing.  Now I don't recall... was it both?

Omg. It was a giant giant on the wall!! Wasn't it the one from Disney's Jack and the Beanstalk? I remember that because it used to scare the hell out of me. And then I loved it. But there was mostly fear.

(Now, of course, I remember it fondly.)

It was both, and it had been done by a local artist - I asked once when I was 11 or 12.  I used to know all the librarians on the children's level by name, back when it was in the basement, and wonderful.  I love the library as it is now, but I do remember it as it was very fondly.

I finished my assignment that is due in class tomorrow, and it isn't even bedtime yet!  This has been one that has been stressing me out quite a bit (on top of the rest of my troubles, which has made it harder to accomplish).  So I am very happy!

Okay, while typing this, I remembered I need to draw a screw and a nail into the drawings for the assignments, which means I need to go down to the car and get the printouts of the drawings.  But other than that I'm done!

I've finally got a dining table!  And it was free.  Brand new.  And I have four chairs almost as old as I am to go with it, and they look pretty good together.

My husband said he had a dream last night that we were friends but for whatever reason I was marrying someone else.

The day after the wedding he said he wanted to call me but I was already on my honeymoon, and he said it made him sad and he asked himself, "Why didn't *I* marry her?"

Anyway, he said he woke up and looked over and saw me sleeping and gave a happy sigh to find that he WAS married to me after all!  Cheesy

Cool! Why Vegas?

Couple of reasons

A) most of my birth family live down there, so to get closer and learn more about them

B) Time for a change, too many bad memories up here right now, and for me to work on myself and get myself straightened out I need to "leave the scene of the crime"

C) Further my acting. With my birthfamily almost completly wrapped up in theatre (my uncle teaches theatre at the university, my other uncle and aunt are in charge of costumes on a cruise line, my uncle wrote and owns the rights to the excalibur show, my cousins work the excalibur show, so on and so forth.) I just figured Vegas was a place I could go and work on my talent

D) Going back to school! And not in theatre! OMG! Woot!

It fills me with a petty, unhealthy sense of joy that M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender is getting the worst reviews of any film this year.

The best Hollywood can offer us for 4th of July weekend is a Twilight movie and a Shyamalan movie? This is not the America I fought and died for.

I just made and canned a batch of apricot jam all by myself!

My mom seems to be intent on preparing me for real life while I'm here, and this preparation is taking the form of food preservation.  To be fair, last year I did mention that I didn't know how to can things and wanted to learn.  But it really is satisfying to do this stuff.  So far, I've canned pints of raspberries and apricots with varying degrees of assistance, but this jam I did all on my own while my mom was taking her afternoon nap!

Sigh, yeah I know. But hubby's parents still live here so we'll visit a lot. Besides, we plan on still coming down to participate in our monthly LARPs (yes that's plural. I love my husband!)

I am endlessly amused by these ads I keep getting on Facebook for internet dating sites that "screen by beauty" and have only women that could be models. And these same sited are so short on men that men join for free (regardless of physical appearance). I've gotten some good laughs out of them.

It was just rental; I don't get to keep my pretty hood.  It was about $45 to rent the cap, gown, and hood, I think.

This is a girl who has had her heart broken
Cried for continuous hours
Yelled and screamed for help
A girl who turned her back on the world
and a girl who did nothing but love someone.

Heehee.  My nephews mailed some drawings to my mom for her birthday.  The second-grader's masterpiece is entitled "Battledroid Quidditch".  This just makes me giggle.

Assistant stage manager for Blue Man Group?  That's very cool. Congratulations and good luck!  I'll be there during the week of Xmas and wouldn't say "no" to tickets. Wink

Been absent from here for some time, it always makes me happy that even in Vegas I can come on here and feel at home.

However, the time is at hand and I will be leaving for Europe for 6 months at sea.......as a stage manager on board Holland America! Whoopie!!!!!! Happy days!

ROFL!

There was a whole thread exploring the similarity, but I'm too lazy to look for it...
