I'm going to NYC in january. I've already been a few times and seen all the "big ones" - wicked, in the heights, mary poppins, chicago, jersey boys - and a few not so big ones - next to normal, billy elliot, 39 steps. So....what do I see now? I really really want to see Ragtime, but that's about all so far....suggestions?

I really loved The 39 Steps. It was VERY well done, and so funny! You won't regret seeing it.

Here is my suggestion:

Don't see Memphis... it's kind of a hot mess, the show that is. The talents is great, the show was not well written at all.

and NOT seeing "Next To Normal" is the BIGGEST mistake you could ever make. That is a MUST see.

Skip finians rainbow and bye bye birdie.

if God of Carnage is still there, it is a GREAT script.

I know NOTHING about "Superior Donuts", but I know that Tracy Letts is the playwright, and he can kind of do no wrong. So i'm sure it is a good show.

There is SO much there right now.

Go see "Ordinary Days".

SO MUCH TO SEE.

Don't skip "Finian's Rainbow"! It's a beautiful production of a classic musical. I loved it but I also grew up on that show. (My dad loved it!)

Be sure to check the dates of when you are going and what shows to see... because there are a ton that are closing: 39 Steps, Superior Donuts, Bye Bye Birdie, and others. Ragtime is also possibly closing.

I'm going January over MLK weekend. I have tickets for Ragtime (I hope it doesn't close before that) and A Little Night Music. I'll probably see Fela and also Ernst in Love at Irish Rep.

send me over some of the good reviews of finians. I would love to read them. I want this show to be good, but all i have read are bad reviews, and heard from those that saw it that is was crap. But i enjoy the show and LOVE Cheyenne Jackson...but i've heard nothing but bad about it...

I just saw Finian's Rainbow today. It was wonderful!  Very energetic, fantastic dancing, great singing. I don't remember the old script very well, although it was obvious they had a made a few changes, but it didn't feel dated or slow at all. The voices were beautiful and I thought the message was still very accessable for today.
