IN THE HEIGHTS Chasing Broadway Dreams
Tonight on PBS Great Performances
KUED Channel 7 at 7pm

We'd like to recommend PBS Great Performances featuring IN THE HEIGHTS the Tony Award winning musical premiering tonight, Wednesday, May 27th at 7pm on KUED Channel 7. With an amazing cast, incredible dancing and a gripping tale of hope and self-discovery, IN THE HEIGHTS is Broadway's hottest hit! The New York Times calls it, "A musical about chasing your dreams and finding your true home, with enough energy to light up the George Washington Bridge. A SINGULAR NEW SENSATION!"  And it's a show that we are working to bring to Salt Lake in an upcoming season.

In a journey reminiscent of the unexpected zeitgeist success of HAIR, A CHORUS LINE, and RENT, the story behind the success of In the Heights is so organic to New York City that no one expected it to happen. Beginning at a small, off-Broadway theater, a group of talented young artists led by composer-lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda produced an original musical that some have called a modern day West Side Story-a Latin and Hip-Hop-infused musical odyssey telling the story of a neighborhood and the first-generation Americans who call it home. And yet, many in the show's audiences have nothing to compare it to as it represents the first musical that they've journeyed below 125th Street to see. Opening on Broadway in spring 2008 and going on to win four Tony Awards-including Best New Musical-In the Heights on Broadway follows the cast and creative team as they embark on the greatest adventure of their young careers. Rating: TVPG

Length: 56 minutes, 46 seconds.

For those that did not get to watch this last night but might have wanted to....IT WAS AWESOME!!! What a great story! I highly recommend recording it on one of the other nights...or stay up all night to watch it....it would actually be worth it.
