http://kidney4paul.blogspot.com/

He hates Valentine's Day and we a hate the situation he's in, so what better day to launch Kidney4Paul? Have a heart (couldn't resist) and let's band together and do whatever we can to help him through this. Dark Knight has been such a HUGE part of our community for so many years. Let's show him how much we care, how much we love him, and how much we want to help.

Right now, Kidney4Paul is set up to accept online donations - any amount is greatly appreciated. As time goes on, hopefully we can put together some other options to help raise money to help him through this. I'm planning on donating monies from readings and healings. If anybody else has suggestions or services they'd like to offer, please contact me at [email protected].

I don't know that there's any specific ammount that "has" to be raised. My share of the surgery (after insurance) will come to between 1 and 2 thousand dollars, and, after that, it's about $400 per month of medications that I will be on permanently. I believe Xena's intention is just to help me out with these expenses as much as is reasonably  possible.

Thanks.  It looks like you will probably be taking the same organ rejection meds that Mojo takes.  Expensive stuff!  Does your insurance cover any of that?

No, the insurance doesn't pay for the meds.

My sister has to take expensive meds and found a government program that subsidizes them. I'll ask her more about it.

Yes. But the meds he takes are because his body is rejecting his skin.  I know.  Weird shite.   It makes sense that a body might reject a new organ, but why reject an organ you were born with?  *shrug*

Yeah, it seems to me that graft vs. host usually involves a graft of some kind.

Thank you, everybody, for helping DK through this - whether by donating, praying, sending good energies, or spreading the word to everybody you know.  It is so amazing to witness the kindness of others this way.

Absolutely. I can't find the words to adequately express my gratitude.

Paul, what medications will you be taking? I've got a chronic pain/chest cavity condition, so I'm constantly taking a ton of meds for both (narcotic and non-narcotic) and have learned a ton of ways to save cash on meds...

Also, have you found a match for transplant?

The medicines are immunosuppresants. I can't remember the names at the moment.

The search for a donor is moving forward, but is not yet finished.

Please, keep spreading the word to everybody you know and encourage them to do so, as well. This is already being such a wonderful experience, seeing how many people care and are stepping up and giving from their hearts and then passing the word along. It is truly amazing to me to witness this and to know that even in these financially tight times, people care and give so beautifully. I am in awe and every single person who is contributing - whether it's $5 or $100 - is my hero. Thank you! *crying happy sappy tears*

And for those who are interested, I will be donating all monies from readings & reiki healings ordered through my site at www.vestasophia.com in March to Paul. I don't have that info on my site yet, so if you want a reading, reiki healing or both, just email me & we'll get ya done.

How would someone(me) get tested for compatibility?

Thank you, but right now they're not testing anymore people until they're done with the curren t group, which, we all hope, will end in a good match, eliminating the need for further testing.

well, keep us updated - I'm sure I'll need something (probably a lung) replaced one day and at my rate, it'll be sooner rather than later.... so hopefully what goes around, comes around, etc.

Good Luck (Check your PM's, I tried to PM you but my machine has been acting screwy)

Hey, I went to the site, but I can't find anywhere to donate money now that I have some.  Can we still make donations?

The donate feature no loonger works. You can contact either me or Xena directly if you still wish to make donations. There are plenty of expenses remaining, and any help is apprciated. Thank you  Smiley

You've always been willing to stand up for me and also forgive me when either has been an option.  Thank you.
