You may have noticed a "give" amazon button at the bottom of the page. You are welcome to make a donation to cancer research any time over the next month... but I thought I'd let you know what you are sponsoring. We already have four people who say they are willing to chop or shave their hair for this fundraiser. I have the amount needed as $500, but I hope we will raise much more!

Volunteers so far:

Sweet Chicken (shave)
Kaylee (funky color)
Mister Spiker (shave)
Hedgehog (shave)
Mister A. (Chop)
Lady M. (Chop and Color)
Mojo Jojo (Shave)

And two "maybes" who will remain anonymous until they decide.

Thank you! (Please read the following attachment)

Is everybody going to go bald on a particular day?  mr. says he'll do it depending on the date (he has to have hair for a show in January).

If the hair is 8 inches or longer (and not severely damaged), it should go to
these people
.  I did some research about Locks of Love and found out that Beautiful Lengths has made and donated the same amount of wigs in 2 years that LoL has in 10.  Guess who my hair is going to?

Thanks for that information, Fran! I planned to donate mine to LOL, but I think differently now. Even though I've colored my hair a lot, my hairstylist says I have "tuff" hair and that they can use it. Too bad I cut it throughout the Summer or I'd have more! But I have at least 12" I think.

BTW, I'd love to have a before and after photo of you, Fran, to post as one of the "Brave" when this is all done. Smiley

Spiker, we were hoping to chop/shave our hair in time for the Year-End party, but if Mr. Spiker wants to get involved, all we really need is a commitment and a before (then after) photo.
Smiley

Thanks!

For whatever reason, I thought the Facebook invitation was for an Event, not a Group, and I'm not comitting to a lot right now. I'd be happy to join.

Anyway, you have enough to go on about with other diseases right now, Dark Knight!  Thanks for your post.

Yeah - count me in.

I don't know exactly *when* I will be doing it - need to schedule around show conflicts and such. But probably at the Year End Party.

Cool!  Thanks.  I think that most of us are either going to come to the year-end party in our new chopped "do" or actually shave heads right there at the party.  But if you need to keep your hair for a show beyond that, we'd still love to have you as one of the "Brave" Smiley

Absolutely awesome!  Smiley   I'm thinking of jumping the gun a bit too... so that my hair will actually be the right color by the party (might take a few processing sessions).

Thank you so much!  I saw that come through.  We are now 15% of our goal!  And I promised to donate $10 for each person who volunteers to shave, chop, or color (besides me and Dave) ... so that brings us to 29% of our goal.

With the Amazon donations plus mine, we now have $170, which is 34% of our goal.  Thank you unnamed donors as well as Mr. Spiker and Nancy Young.   For those whose names weren't sent to me, feel free to tell me who you are so I can give you recognition!

With all the donations added up, we now are 45% of our goal.  Almost half-way there!

I wonder if I should donate money in everyone's name for my xmas gifts this year?  Do you think my relatives would like getting a certificate saying that I donated money to cancer research in their name instead of a gift?  Hmmm.  Dunno.

Oh, good for my auntie!  I guess she really wants to see me bald.

It's funny - I literally have enough hair right now to be in yaoi, if that were possible (it's not).  I keep it brushed and shellacked and slightly waved, but after sleeping on it, my hair becomes huge and almost has a life of its own.  I'm wondering if I should keep it, and just dye it blue instead.

I suggested this to my family once, and my reasoning was that if anybody actually had the balls to say that they weren't okay with it, then they didn't deserve a present anyway.

Oh, and I vote for Mister A to go blue, too. And I donated, so my vote TOTALLY counts. Wink

With the money people have donated directly to ACS and our Brave Shave website, we now are 68% there! We just need $160 more to reach our goal... but even more is better!

Emily donated so much time to doing my hair yesterday. 4 1/2 hours to get it that blonde! This is all for Brave Shave. Please think about donating a few bucks today. Thanks!

And don't forget that in November you can go to Emily Price at Suggestions Salon in Orem and all the money you pay her for any service will go to cancer research.  She does an amazing job!

I'm hoping most people will either do this at the year-end party or reveal the results there.  So if you trust some one at the party to shave your head, cool!  If you want to go into a barber or salon, then either show up at the party with a bald head, or post a photo around or before December 6th.

I jumped the gun and probably confused you all.  One of my reasons was to try to draw attention to Emily and her offer to give the money she makes in November to our cause.

Hooray for your friends and family!  We are now at $420 and I think that a few people are paying Emily as well... I need to check on that.

$80 to go for out goal!  If just three more people donate $25 I'd be willing to cover the other $5!

You look brilliant. I LOVE it.  I think the lack of facial hair is the biggest difference.  Wow.  And to think that you look great both ways.  Lucky you.

Haha yaaaaaaay! I love it!

My brother and I both have appointments with Emily on the 6th. He's cropping his hair and I'm going dark. Wooooot!

Oh yeah, here's mine.

Listen, I don't know what sort of kids you've been flying around with in outer space, but you're not telling me to shut up!

I mean this in the absolute best way possible:

You look like a Who! A Seuss-Who! It's so whimsical!

That was Emily's doing.  I had to go to Target like that.

The funniest thing about blue hair is that I can't observe others anymore - they're all observing me.  And you'd think that a spotlight-starved actor would love that, but I miss looking at people in obscurity.

You know what's the most disconcerting thing about blue hair?

Blue dandruff.

Freaky.

You know, every time I look at your photo I get the song stuck in my head

yo listen up here's a story
about a little guy that lives in a blue world
and all day and all night and everything he sees
is just blue like him inside and outside
blue his house with a blue little window
and a blue corvette
and everything is blue for him and hisself
and everybody around
cos he ain't got nobody to listen to

i'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

i have a blue house with a blue window.
blue is the colour of all that i wear.
blue are the streets and all the trees are blue.
i have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
blue are the people here that walk around,
blue like my corvette, it's standing outside.
blue are the words i say and what i think.
blue are the feelings that live inside me.

i'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

i have a blue house with a blue window.
blue is the colour of all that i wear.
blue are the streets and all the trees are blue.
i have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
blue are the people here that walk around,

blue are the words i say and what i think.
blue are the feelings that live inside me.

i'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

inside and outside blue his house
with the blue little window and blue corvette
and everything is blue for him and hisself
and everybody around cause he aint got
nobody to listen to

i'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

I'm blue (if I was green I would die)

I. Love. That song!

I once convinced someone that they lyrics of the chorus were:

I'm blue and I'm a nun, And I'm a nun because I'm blue
And I am blue because I know
that I will never get married

Beat Eddie Thompson, he was bad,
Then beat Susan Johnson 'til she's sad,
Then beat all the children 'cause I'm mad.

I'm blue and I'm a nun, And I'm a nun because I'm blue
And I am blue because I know
that I will never get married

I don't know if it says more about his gullibility, my quick-lying mind, or the dark place in me that came up with it in the first place.

I have green so I understand, waiting for the final shaving of the head to post pictures but I have each step recorded, including the lightening to blondish first

Hey... ignore the message I just sent you on facebook.  *blush* (Unless you plan to shave your head bald at the party)

I was planning to get it all cut off there and I will bring clippers, let some of the people who donated take chunks complete with pictures of them doing it.  I'm not afraid to bring the razor and finish the job at the party either.

Thank you all for participating! Just so you know, the money that was paid to the Amazon paypage has been donated directly to the American Cancer Society for cancer research (with a credit card by me... and I covered the Amazon fees too). That money, plus the money reported to me that other people paid directly came to $710.

Bravo!  I actually stuck in a few extra bucks to help cover the Amazon fees.
