Speaking of Vincent... my daughter asked me to read a new book to her last night called "Vincent Van Gogh's Cat." I read the title aloud, and used the American punctuation: Van-Go... my son immediately corrected me and said, "that's Van-Goff!"

I couldn't be prouder.  Smiley

13 and a half days!

There is one thing you never put in a trap, if you're smart - if you value your continued existence - if you have any plans about seeing tomorrow there is one thing you never EVER put in a trap. Me.

Listen, I don't know what sort of kids you've been flying around with in outer space, but you're not telling me to shut up!

As long as I don't bleed or cry, I'll do it!

I watched episode 1 of season 1 a few months ago, but it seemed old and hokey and I thought I must be watching the wrong version of the series.  My grandpa used to watch it when I was young and I remember the super curley afro-who from the 1970 version and this looked like it might be an 80's version at first.

I checked the date last night and saw that it was actually 2005 that I was watching so I gave episode 2 a go.  It was... better.  At least no worse than any Star Trek Next Generation episode that I would still enjoy today.  Presumably over 5 more seasons it gets really fantastic.  Am I watching the right thing?

Were there mannequins with guns in their hands, and then a trampoline villainess?  Then yes.

It does get better, and less cheesy. They were playing a bit safe in those first few, but if you get halfway through the season, you'll hit 'Father's Day'. That's the episode that really hooked me.

Good to know. I wasn't even trying very hard in the first episode because I thought it was surely not the right one (because the actor playing the doctor was not who I thought was playing the doctor).

I'll keep at it. Smiley

The super-curly afro Who was Tom Baker, who played the Doctor for 8 years from 1974 to 1981.

If Father's Day doesn't hook you, hold out for the Empty Child, and see where you are from there. "Dalek" was my hook, from an old Who-fan standpoint. It was incredible to see the Daleks actually be a force to reckon with, rather than rolling pepper-pots. It was also amazing to see the Doctor as a burnt-out soldier feeling his hatred for the enemy one final time. Honestly, it was a Doctor I didn't expect to see.
