Title: Better Live or on the Disc?
Post by Cheeky Monkey on Aug 13th, 2010 at 2:30pm
What are some artists that sound better live than on the recorded track?

Or, conversely, artists that are a disappointment live?

Category 1: Sarah McLaughlin. I've never actually seen her live, so I'm basing this off the live recordings of her songs. Her live tracks sound better to me.

Category 2: John Mayer. Plus he never looked at the audience! He kept his eyes on his guitar the entire time! Blah.

live is better - Melissa Etheridge, Alanis Morrisette, Sarah McLachlin, October Project, Paula Cole, Indigo Girls, Lisa Gerrard, Dead Can Dance, Bjrk, Tori Amos

better recorded - Madonna (like 50,000x better recorded than live) and Adam Lambert both weren't good live... but I love their recordings.

I figured Madonna's charisma and stage presence would've saved her tinny voice. Too bad.

Too bad about Adam Lambert too.

I think Madonna,James Blunt and Ricky Martin sing better in live concerts than in recorded tracks...

I just saw The Dresden Dolls reunion tour here in Dallas and wow...

Seriously amazing live. Amanda Palmer's voice isn't the best out there, but man, when she and Brian Viglione are on stage together, magic happens.
