Wasatch Theatre Company Announced Auditions for Regional Premiere of Hands on a Hard Body


Who: Wasatch Theatre Company. Under the direction of Jim Martin and musical direction of Ann Puzey.

What: Wasatch Continues their 21st season (full of regional premieres) with Hands on a Hard Body by Doug Wright, Trey Anastasio, and Amanda Green. Based on the real-life “Hands on a Hard Body Contest,” chronicled in the 1997 documentary Hands on a Hardbody, this musical tells the story of a small-town Texas endurance contest, where the contestant who keeps their hands on a truck the longest, gets to keep the truck.

There are roles for 10 women and 6 men of varying ages, ethnicities, and body shapes.

When: Auditions are Saturday, October 27th from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. with callbacks on November 3rd from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Performance dates are February 8th – 23rd, 2019.

Where: Auditions (and performances) will take place at the WTC performance space at The Gateway, 126 South 400 West.

Why: Because good theatre is important!

How: Click here to set up an audition time. Those auditioning will be asked to sing 16 bars of anything in the style of bluegrass, country, or gospel. No lead sheets.


Other information: Actors will earn a stipend of $20.00 a performance. Those auditioning are welcome to read copies of the script on the day of auditions (October 27th between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m.). Those who are invited to callbacks will also have an opportunity to read the script on that day.
