“FOOTLOOSE” AUDITION NOTICE

The Ziegfeld Theater announces open auditions for the 80s pop musical “Footloose” running February 23, 24, March 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 16, 17 at 7:30pm with a matinee on March 10 at 2:00pm in Ogden and March 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31 and April 1 in Park City at The Egyptian Theatre. Directed by Dee Tua’one, music directed by Heidi Potter Hunt and choreographed by Kacee Neff.

SEEKING actors, singers and dancers, 15 years and older. All roles are available (character descriptions below). Colorblind casting – actors of ALL races and skin color are HIGHLY encouraged to audition.

***Show pays a flat rate of $300 per actor. All actors must be available for performances in Ogden and Park City to receive stipend.***

AUDITIONS (by appointment only) will be held starting at 7:00pm on Tuesday, December 5. Invitation only callbacks will be held December 6 and 7 beginning at 7:00pm. To request an audition time, Go to www.ZigArts.com, under the “Join Us” tab, click “Auditions” and after thoroughly reviewing this audition notice, fill out an audition form by clicking the button at the bottom of the page.

Auditions will be held at the Zig Arts Academy, address 2440 E. 6600 S. in Uintah.

***If you are absolutely unavailable to audition on these dates, let us know as soon as possible so that we may arrange an alternate audition for you, if possible.***

PREPARE 16 bars from a Broadway musical in the style of the show. Sheet music is required; accompanist provided. (Please no CD’s, mp3’s, or a cappella auditions.) You are welcome to sing a selection from the show, but please bring a second, contrasting audition selection from a different musical (which we may or may not ask you to sing). For the audition, bring a printed copy of your resume and a headshot or recent picture.

REHEARSALS will begin early January and will generally be held at our rehearsal space in The Zig Arts Academy (address above). There will usually be 4 weekday evening rehearsals (M-Th) and 1 Saturday morning/afternoon rehearsal per week until the week before opening week, when rehearsals will be nightly. There will also be weeknight re-spacing and tech rehearsals the week of Park City opening.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Ren McCormack (Male) –  A teenage boy from Chicago. Fun, quick-witted and loves to dance, out-going personality. Needs to be a strong actor, singer, and dancer. (tenor)

Ariel Moore(Female) – Rebellious daughter of Reverend Moore. Needs to be a strong actor, singer, and dancer. (mezzo)

Chuck Cranston (Male) – Ariel’s “bad boy” boyfriend. Needs to be a strong singer and actor. (tenor)

Willard Hewitt (Male) – A true country boy. Big tempered, loves his mama. Befriends Ren’s. Needs to be a strong actor, singer, and dancer. (baritone/tenor)

Rusty (Female) – Ariel’s best friend. Eventually falls for Willard. Needs to be a strong actor, singer, and dancer. (mezzo)

Urleen (Female) – Ariel’s friend. Needs to be a strong actor, singer, and dancer. (mezzo)

Wendy Jo (Female) – Ariel’s friend. Needs to be a strong actor, singer, and dancer.(meezo)

Jeter (Male) – Willard’s friend. Small speaking role, sings back-up, some dancing. (tenor)

Bickle (Male) – Willard’s friend. Small speaking role, sings back-up, some dancing. (tenor)

Garvin (Male) – Willard’s friend. Small speaking role, sings back-up, some dancing. (baritone)

Lyle (Male) – Chuck’s buddy. Small speaking role, sings back-up, some dancing. (tenor)

Travis (Male) – Chuck’s buddy. Small speaking role, sings back-up, some dancing.(baritone)

Cowboy Bob/Bobbie (Male / Female) – A cowboy in a country western dance hall. Needs to be a strong singer and actor.

Reverend Shaw Moore (Male) – The minister of Beaumont. Ariel’s father. Needs to be a strong singer and actor. (baritone)

Vi Moore (Female) – Ariel’s mother. Needs to be a strong singer and actor. (mezzo)

Ethel McCormack (Female) – Ren’s mother. Needs to be a strong singer and actor. (mezzo)

Lulu Warnicker (Female) – Ren’s aunt. Speaking role.

Wes Warnicker (Male) – Ren’s uncle. Speaking role.

Principal Harry Clark (Male / Female) – Principal of the high school. Speaking role.

Coach Roger Dunbar (Male) – The high school gym teacher. Speaking role.

Eleanor Dunbar (Female) – Coach Dunbar’s wife. Speaking role.

Betty Blast (Female) – owner of the Burger Blast. Roller skating if possible. Speaking role.

A Cop (Male) – Small speaking role.

Choir, High School Sudents, Parishioners, and Townspeople – chorus roles.
